Last week I was on a four day introductory seminar with the Prince’s Trust for their ‘exploring business’ course, the course was developed to provide young entrepreneurs; I guess like myself, with the tools and support they need to grow their business ideas. Now this was first mentioned to me by a friend a while a go and I initially thought to myself “what could they offer me that I haven’t already or can’t find out myself”… It turns out – surprise – there’s a lot.

Now I could write numerous paragraphs covering topics from business plans to HMRC and more but I don’t want to do that, I don’t fancy scaring away readers with mass amounts of information. If you’re interested in finding out more theres a page link at the bottom and I’ll most likely be documenting my journey with the Prince’s Trust in smaller chunks.

I would just like to introduce this thread with my initial thoughts on the program – From the point of view of someone who has been setting up a business for a while now, same goes to the other participants; we were quite advanced when it came to going through certain subjects. So we flew through the days. But that doesn’t mean we didn’t learn anything, in-fact what we did learn was more of the financial side and building upon what we already knew.

For me, I’d have to say the most beneficial part of the course was the networking and support. Don’t get me wrong I leant a great deal and a lot of it clarified the mass confusion of the internet. But being able to get your feet on the ground, have a bit of direction and know that the support is there through possible mentoring can be a lot more valuable when you are starting out.
